Quality Materials, Superior Wendy Houses
You can depend on the quality of our Wendy Houses which have been built with materials selected for their superior performance and appearance.
Our Rock Hard cladding is the first differentiating feature of our Wendy Houses. It is high grade, low maintenance and very durable. But that is not the only place where Wendy House Centre has selected superior materials.
We use planed and machined timber for our framing and floors. This means that our timber has been properly processed for its application. It has been adequately dried and machined to be smooth, uniform and accurately sized. It has also been graded to minimise any defects. Planed and machined timber is a much higher quality than “wet off saw” or “knotty pine”. Here is why:
- “Wet off saw” is timber that has just been cut from the log and has not been dried or processed. Its high moisture content makes it susceptible to biological issues like mould, rot, and insect infestation. It also means that it shrinks as it dries, leaving gaps in between the pieces of timber. Wet off saw is suitable for rough construction, where aesthetics is not a primary concern.
- “Knotty pine” is easily identified by the presence of knots which vary in size, shape, and distribution. Knots are an inherent weakness in wood which can significantly reduce its building strength. Knotty pine provides a rustic appearance and is not intended for a structural application.
Guarantee
We believe that our Wendy Houses are built to last and are happy to back that claim. All of our Rock Hard Wendy Houses come with a 15-year anti-rot guarantee and a 1-year workmanship warranty.

What Material Do You Use?
The material we use is called Rock Hard. It is an imported mineral composite board which has many benefits. This is why we use it:
- High grade, low maintenance “Rock Hard” cladding only requires a repaint every 3-5 years with any exterior house paint. This is significantly less than the annual or bi-annual treatment that traditional wooden units require.
- Waterproof, fire proof and insect proof meaning water and insect damage on Wendy Houses can be a thing of the past.
- Weather resistant “Rock Hard” cladding offers durability meaning your Wendy House will stay looking as smart as the day it is installed.
- Cooler in summer and warmer in winter because “Rock Hard” is a super insulator.
- 100% environmentally friendly with an International Green Guard Certification.

What Does The Technical Information Mean?
Here is a brief description of what the different technical information terms mean:
- Wall Height: This is the vertical measurement of the side walls. It is from the floor to the top of the wall.
- Gable Height: Our Wendy Houses have a pitched roof. The gable height is the vertical measurement from the bottom of the floor to the top of the roof.
- Door Position: This shows which side of the Wendy House the door can be placed on and is determined by the wall height. Wendy Houses with a 1.8m wall height or a veranda will always have the door on the front. Wendy Houses with a 2m wall height can have the door on the front or the side.
- Door Size: This is the width (left to right) and height (top to bottom) of the door opening.
- Minimum Installation Area: This is the smallest amount of working space that we need to be able to install your Wendy House. It gives us 400mm all around the Wendy House to be able to screw it all together. Please also consider that the door needs to open.
- Maximum Slope: This is the largest change in height across the diagonal of the Wendy House that can still allow for a brick install. For example, if the Wendy House is going to be levelled onto bricks, the change in height from the front left corner of the Wendy House to the back right corner of the Wendy House cannot exceed 400mm. If the change in height is bigger than 400mm, then a stilted base or concrete slab is required.
- Internal Dimensions: This is the measurement from the inside of the wall on one side to the inside of the wall on the other side. These dimensions are given as front (short side) and side (long side).
- Estimated Installation Time: This is how long we expect the Wendy House installation to take from the time we arrive at your property to the time we leave. This may vary slightly depending on how far we need to carry the panels and the ground conditions but it is an accurate estimation.
What Ground Preparation Do I Need To Do?
In general, you do not need to do any ground preparation. When we install, we level the Wendy House onto bricks by placing bricks every 600mm – 800mm throughout the entire floor. This is all included in our delivered & installed price, including the bricks.
If your gradient exceeds 400mm across the diagonal, or if you order a Wendy House that is bigger than 3m x 4.2m, we will need to consider some different levelling options. These options are:
- Stilted base. We offer a stilted base as an optional extra for uneven gradients. We dig poles into the ground and attach a wooden frame onto the poles. This creates a level platform on which we then install the Wendy House.
- Concrete slab. You can pour a concrete slab which will create a level surface on which to install the Wendy House. We will still place the Wendy House on at least one brick to allow water and air to flow underneath it. This is important to ensure the longevity of your Wendy House floor.
If you are unsure about whether or not you need to do any ground prep, please send us photos and we will be able to tell you what is or is not needed.
Do You Do Custom Designs?
We have limited flexibility in the customisation of our designs. This is because each part of our Wendy Houses have been technically drawn and meticulously designed to incorporate the necessary elements for exceptional strength and durability. This does not mean that our designs are completely rigid.
We have a large selection of standard panel options which we can configure to meet your needs. If you are looking for something specific, please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate your needs within our range of panels. We would love to hear your ideas and work together to create your perfect Wendy House which will stand the test of time.
What Are Your Payment Terms?
We require full payment upfront before we can deliver or you can collect. If you are at all concerned about this, you are welcome to come to our factory in Muldersdrift and view our products before you pay.
You can also pay a 50% deposit to reserve your Wendy House or book it in to be manufactured. Once it is ready, you are welcome to come and view it, or we can send you photos. Thereafter, you can then pay the balance and we will schedule delivery.
I Need The Wendy House To Go To The Back Of My Garden. Is This Possible?
It is definitely possible! Our Wendy Houses arrive in pre-built panels and are erected on site. This has two main advantages:
- Easy access. We can navigate narrow pathways, tight corners, and properties with restricted access. If there is an opening as wide as a pedestrian gate with a 2.4m height clearance, we can get your wendy house to your desired spot.
- Remarkably quick and efficient installation process. Our installation times range from just less than an hour to about six hours depending on the size of the Wendy House and the optional extras, specifically roof insulation and stilted bases.
How Long Does The Installation Take?
The size of the Wendy House is the biggest factor determining how long it will take to install. Smaller Wendy Houses can take as little as 45 minutes to install from start to finish and bigger Wendy Houses can take as long as four hours to install, without a stilted base. More specific estimated installation times can be found on our individual product pages.
Do You Offer Any Optional Extras?
While we pride ourselves in our ready-to-use Wendy Houses, sometimes a little something extra is nice to have, We offer the following optional extras at an additional cost:
- Roof paint: in your choice of grey or terracotta.
- Roof insulation: to help maintain the ambient temperature more. This is a building grade alububble which is silver on the top and white at the bottom. This is recommended when people are spending extended hours in the Wendy House.
- Stilted base: this raises the Wendy House onto wooden stilts rather than being installed onto bricks. This is necessary for gradients that exceed 400mm. Stilt height cannot exceed 1m at any point. We will always make the stilts as short as possible for safety reasons.
- Extra mileage: for delivery and installation that is between 60km and 150km from our factory in Muldersdrift.
What Happens If You Cannot Install The Wendy House?
If we cannot install the Wendy House for whatever reason, we charge a failed installation fee based on the size of the Wendy House. This is not to make extra money, it simply covers our costs of paying our installer and crew to be there. For units 3m x 4.2m or smaller, the failed installation charge is R1 562. For Wendy Houses bigger than this, the failed installation charge is R3 300.
Do I Need To Organise Electricity For When You Are Here?
No, thank you. We have cordless tools and bring everything we need to get the job done!
